Weekend in the desert
Well we took off last Friday to Phoenix for the weekend to visit with family and had a great time out there.
Got there late Friday night around 2 am and hit the sack.
Saturday we packed a nice picnic with an accompanying 12 pack to wash it down and headed out to Lake Bartlet.
Where we spent the better part of the afternoon. One or two from the Orcutt clan were brave enough to soak up the sun while the rest of us tired to find a shady place to hide so that we didn’t turn into raisins in under 60 seconds in the 115 degree heat.
After hide and seek with the sun at the lake, Larissa and I decided to make a dinner fit for the gods and in under 3 hours we put together something that Zeus might have nibbled at.
Shrimp pasta and baked fish as the main course and a Mediterranean salad on the side. Now all that takes some time to plan so to get us into the cooking mood we opened a bottle of Chilean red (first time, but not bad) and some olives, cheese & salami on crackers.
We were done in the kitchen around 9 and we all sat around to eat and enjoyed time talking strictly Orcutt chatter for about an hour and a half.
Then Elena produced a B-day cake and ice cream for Rose and that about took care of the rest of my needed 10,000 calorie count for the day.
Sunday we went to see Grandpa and had lunch there. Was good to see him in his nineties and still going strong.
The boys did some gardening and played around with an ax (under supervision of course) for a while and
then turning my thoughts Westward we hit the I- 10 at about 4pm and got back here at about 9:00. All in all a great trip and we have the pics to prove it.
Thanks for hosting us there.

I’m, so offended that you didn’t mention my name under the credits for the dinner making
after all, I did make the salad. Just kidding. So nice to have you guys visit. I had a lot of fun. Oh, & thanks again for all the provisions & baby stuff you guys brought. Sure was a blessing.
Oooops. My bad you did do the salad and a good one it was.
I didn’t want you to get to lifted up so I just gave you credit for the cake.
Anyways my bad again.
Glad that you liked the stuff.
