Saved by a lighting bolt, well almost
John here:
Abi and I get up early in the morring to get prayer vigil time. When I take my prayer time I drag myself out of bed and head straght for the coffee maker and start up that great little energy producer. Then I plop down on the coach and start to pray. I have really come to love this time when I can intercede for others in prayer. My other half likes to go for a walk while praying. Now it so happens that we are surounded by a lot of mother nature and as such there are various byproducts of living in this environment. And on this day Abi got to see this up close and personal.
As she trotted along she noticed what she thought was a golden retriever or something of the sort. But on closer inspection it turns out that it was a cat. Abi is a cat lover and raised many a litter but somehow this cat was different. Abi being the keen hunter/tracker that she is could tell once she got within 5 feet of this cat that this was not like one of the little cats she had read about in the Scott the puppy story or the many cats that she had cuddled growing up. NO this one was different. Right about this time her shrewd instincts kicked in and her senses peeked. And she knew that she was in the presence of a cougar!
Abi here: Now I’m going to bring the spiritual side to this. yes, we were having prayer vigil. So today instead of taking my walk I decide I want to try to jog my little route. So, I’m praying and panting and I notice a….well it looked like a dog, now I’m usually scared of stray dogs, but seeing as this one looked like a friendly golden retriever, I decided it would be safe to jog past without getting bit or attacked, anyway I kept on looking at this “dog” and realised as John so lovingly put it that it was a very big cat. I wasn’t in sight of it, as it had it’s head turned away from me, but I was only a few meters from it, so I decided (without thinking) to turn around and run. I got my jog in, PTL!
On the jog back home I just kept on thanking the Lord for his protection. It also got me thinking about life (maybe for you guys, you would have fought it off, but I was just picturing myself malled or maimed by this thing) and how at any moment we could not be here, would I have been satisfied with my life or would have I had anything that I wanted to do better or change?
Anyway, I came home and told John about it. And he told me while waiting for that coffee to brew, in the middle of his prayer vigil, that he got this strong check to pray for me, even though he was in the middle of praying for the situation in Iraq.
John here: I don’t want to jerk a tear out of you (turn this into a tear jerker) but it was quite amazing to me and a testament to the power of prayer.

Hey Fay,
Nice hearing from you, liked your site, I’ll add it to my list of blogs I go to.
Yeah, Sammy’s growing out his hair, first time.
Wow! I beleive it. And thank God we have prayer and prayer vigil in our lives these days. We’d not be alive without it, literally in some cases.
I think that’s wonderful!
I’m so glad you got out of danger!
