Finding Our Way at the Movies

John: I remember thinking how am I going to be able to get closer to this girl and be able to spend some “quality” time with her, as she had a brother that she was very close to and would…how would you say…judiciously guard his time with her and had his eagle eyes on her at all times. To top it off, we often found ourselves competing on the basketball court and this didn’t translate well for me when it came time to ask him for Abi’s hand at the united video night.

Abi: Just to make things a little clearer for our readers, basically my brother and I were close, but in my opinion the reason these two didn’t seem to get along too well had to do with the “male pride thing”. And for a little update they still compete on the court, but the love has grown.

John: So back to the video night: Somehow I managed to finagle my way into sitting next to Abi (score!!!). I had to call in a couple of favors and pull a few strings in the boys room before hand. But I got the seat! Now the tricky part was trying to look attentive when the shepherds paused the video for pow- wowing at the same time not losing the ground that I had gained in inching toward Abi’s hand.

Abi: Before John tries to say he made the first move, I want to tell you on this particular night, it was me! This is embarrassing….but at a funny part in the movie I faked a laugh and slid my hand onto John’s leg.

John: And that wasn’t my third leg. Oh well! Anyways as the movie progressed our courting went into full swing. I think the turning point was when I finally found her hand and things just sort of happened from there. I kept looking over my shoulder nervously trying to see if big bro. was there watching my every move but no he was busy with my sister! Anyhow as the credits went up and the song “The Circle of Life” started playing, we had our first kiss.
