Captured Memories Part Four
Bonding and More
John: The ‘96 Olympics were a cool time for us. We would take the Atlanta underground to downtown Atlanta and would go witnessing to all those coming to watch the water polo games and whatnot.
Abi: I would say that the Olympics were when John and I “officially”……..
John: Joined at the hip.
Abi: Something like that.
John: You know they say all that compete in the big games are winners and I won some gold that summer as well.
John: Fisher was nice enough to let us use his studio as a bounce pad and a good place it was.
Abi: John was so cute, every night he’d ask me to come and have a “word date”.
John: The reason that Abi liked having word dates is because she said it was like getting an infilling of the Holy Ghost every night.
Abi: It was around this time that John’s sister and I were planning on going to Russia, and John decided to go to Hungary.
John: When all the plans were made and the funds raised we went to see our parents. I went to Puerto Rico and Abi was off on a 72 hour Gray Hound to Canada and the snow.
Abi: It was on this trip that I made a few decisions with what I was going to do, I could either go to Russia with John’s sister Rose, or go with John to Hungary. I had almost made my decision when I bumped into one of my old boyfriends, a cute blond, and a few things happened.
John: This is one thing about Canada and the cold. It sometimes warps the perception of what is cute. But anyways, after Abi having dabbled in the Coma sutra arts with this chap, came back to Atlanta and told me all this and then said that she now wanted to go to Hungary with me. I know that this sounds twisted and all, but that is how it happened. I was delirious from dengue fever from being in the tropics so I said “sure baby lets go.”
Abi: After John was “miraculously” delivered from this high fever, I asked him if he could confirm this plan with the Lord, and got the go-ahead, so Rose, John, and I left Atlanta for the ripe and ready field of Hungary, February 18th, ’97.
